Enjoying wine in Bad Sulza

Wine has been grown and cultivated in the area for at least 800 years. Already in medieval times, about 10,000 ha were used to grow wine in Thuringia.
Bad Sulza is one of the centers of this tradition and with it’s 40 ha of wine yards it belongs to the Saale-Unstrut wine area.

Two commercial vineyards are active here and several smaller private vineyards are run by local wine enthusiasts.

Since 1993, every 3rd weekend in August is dedicated to celebrating the local wine and it’s tradition in Bad Sulza. It is well known beyond the town and offers wine and sparkling wine exclusively from the area as well as local food and traditional music.
The highlight of the festivities is the nomination of the “Thuringian Wine Princess”.
